Things You’ll Need
- 3/4 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
- Old rag
- Boiling water
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices

Add Baking Soda
Pour 3/4 cup baking soda into the drain.

Add Vinegar
Pour 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar into the drain. The vinegar mixed with the baking soda will cause a chemical reaction to break down residue.

Plug Drain
Plug the drain with an old rag and let it sit for about 30 minutes so the vinegar and baking soda reaction has plenty of time to work its magic.

Add Boiling Water
After 30 minutes, remove the rag and pour boiling water into the drain to break up any remaining residue.

Add Ice
Pour some ice cubes into the drain and turn the garbage disposal on. Grinding the ice will knock loose any stubborn, stuck-on food and gunk.

Add Lemon Slices
Add a few lemon slices to the drain and turn the garbage disposal on once again for a lemony-fresh scent.

Wipe Clean
