Hand sanitizer has recently been in short supply, and with the threat of the Coronavirus, it's important to protect ourselves from the spread of bacteria and germs. While hand washing is the top recommendation of the CDC, using hand sanitizer is the best backup when soap and running water aren't available. This tutorial showing how to make your own hand sanitizer is just what you need.
Things You’ll Need
-
3/4 cup of isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol 60% or higher
-
1/4 cup of aloe vera gel
-
15-20 drops of peppermint essential oil
-
lidded plastic or glass bottle
Step 1
The alcohol will help kill bacteria, and mixed with the aloe vera gel, forms a moisturizing gel based sanitizer. The addition of the peppermint essential oil gives the hand sanitizer extra germ fighting strength and a pleasant scent.
Step 2
Mix well with a which until the alcohol, gel and essential oil are mixed thoroughly.
Step 3
Pour into lidded bottles and label. A pea size drop of this hand sanitizer should be sufficient. Just add to the palm of your hand and rub hands together making sure to coat your entire hands, including in between your fingers.
