Moroccan wedding blankets are all the rage right now! But, because they take so long to make, a handmade blanket can cost a pretty penny to purchase. The good news is you can make your own authentic-looking Moroccan wedding blanket in much less time and for much less money by using a ready-made blanket, brush fringe, and sequin trim.

Things You’ll Need

Throw blanket
-
Disappearing ink marker
-
Yardstick or other straight edge

Brush fringe (at least 3-inches long)

Sequin trim

Sewing machine

Step 1: Plan the Layout
There are an infinite number of options for the layout of sequins and fringe on a Moroccan wedding blanket. For this project, a simple layout of equidistant rows of brush fringe and sequin trim was used. To do the same, use a disappearing ink marker and a yardstick to draw thirteen equally spaced lines from one side of the blanket to the other.
Tip
If the blanket is a rectangle, draw the lines parallel to the short side.
Step 2: Attach the Sequin Trim
Use a sewing machine to sew the sequin trim to the blanket. Start with top line of disappearing ink and sew the sequin trim over every other line, so there is a drawn line left between each row of sequin trim.

Step 3: Attach the brush fringe
Use a sewing machine to sew the brush fringe to the blanket over the remaining lines.

Step 4: Finish and wash
Snip any threads holding the brush fringe together and wash the blanket on a delicate cycle. Dry in a dryer on gentle heat to fluff the brush fringe.
