Castile soap is a vegetable based soap that is used in many cleaning recipes. It has amazing cleaning and degreasing power. When mixed with water, it makes a great degreaser, all-purpose cleaner and can even be used to wash dishes. There are so many uses for Castile soap, but the store bought liquid Castile soap can be quite expensive. You can easily turn bar Castile soap into liquid — at a fraction of the cost of store bought liquid Castile soap — using this need-to-try tutorial.
Things You’ll Need
-
1 bar of Pure Castile Soap
-
4 cups of water
-
Large pot
-
Cheese grater
Step 1: Grate one bar of pure Castile soap using a cheese grater.
Step 2: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
Once the water reaches a boil, remove it from the heat.
Step 3: Add grated Castile soap to the hot water.
Step 4: Whisk until the soap melts into the hot water.
Once the Castile soap has completely mixed with the water, set the mixture aside for at least an hour to cool.
Step 5: Stir the mixture until completely smooth.
Once the mixture has cooled completely, give it a good stir. The now liquid Castile soap will be super thick. To thin it out a bit, mix 1/2 cup of warm water and stir until completely mixed together. Store in an airtight container.
Using Your Castile Soap
The liquid Castile soap is super concentrated. You can mix 2 tablespoons of Castile soap with 1 cup of water to make an all-purpose cleaner. Liquid Castile soap has so many uses, and it usually only takes a couple of tablespoons, so one bar turned into liquid will last a really long time.
